Terms of Service

Draft — pending legal review.
This document has been drafted in good faith but has not yet been reviewed by a qualified lawyer in Botswana. It is published in draft form so we can gather feedback. The final binding version will be published here after legal review. Questions? Email hello@studible.co.bw.
Introduction and acceptance
Welcome to Studible. These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and Studible ("Studible", "we", "us", or "our"), operated by Noetic Labs, a company based in Botswana.
By creating an account or using our website (studible.co.bw) or our learner app (app.studible.co.bw), you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use Studible.
Who can use Studible
Studible is aimed at secondary school students in Botswana, but it is open to anyone who meets the following conditions:
- You are at least 13 years old, or you have the permission of a parent or legal guardian and they have agreed to these Terms on your behalf.
- If you are under the age of 18, your parent or legal guardian is responsible for any payments made through your account.
- You are able to enter into a legally binding contract under the law that applies to you.
- Your use of Studible is not prohibited by any law that applies to you.
We may refuse service, close accounts, or remove content at our discretion where these conditions are not met.
Your account
To use most of Studible you need an account. You agree to provide accurate information, to keep your login details safe, and to not share your account with anyone else. You are responsible for activity on your account.
If you think someone is using your account without permission, please email us at hello@studible.co.bw immediately.
Subscriptions and payments
Parts of Studible are available for free, and parts are available through paid subscription plans. Our current plans and prices (in Botswana Pula) are shown on our pricing page.
- Plan length: each paid plan gives you access for a fixed period (for example 30 days, 90 days, or 180 days) starting from the date of payment.
- No automatic renewal: plans do not auto-renew. When a plan ends, you simply choose whether to buy another one.
- Payment: payments are processed by our payment provider. Prices include any applicable taxes unless stated otherwise.
- Price changes: we may change our prices at any time, but price changes will only apply to plans purchased after the change.
Cancellations and refunds
Because our plans are fixed-length and do not auto-renew, there is nothing to cancel in the usual sense — access simply ends when your plan expires.
If something has gone wrong — for example a duplicate charge, a failed plan activation, or a billing error — contact us at hello@studible.co.bw and we'll look into it and issue a refund where appropriate.
Placeholder: our formal refund window and the specific circumstances that qualify for a refund will be finalised with our legal adviser and posted here.
Acceptable use
While using Studible, you agree not to:
- Use Studible to cheat on an examination, assignment, or any other formal assessment.
- Share, resell, or sublicense your account access to anyone else.
- Scrape, copy, or redistribute our content (microlessons, question banks, explanations, or any other material) outside of personal study use.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, probe, or interfere with Studible's systems or security.
- Upload content or messages that are illegal, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, or otherwise harmful.
- Use Thuto AI for purposes that are unlawful, that harm others, or that are inconsistent with educational use.
- Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to access the service without our written permission.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that break these rules.
Content and intellectual property
Studible's content — including microlessons, question banks, explanations, illustrations, software, brand, logos, and design — is owned by Studible or our licensors. Your subscription gives you a personal, limited, non-transferable licence to use this content for your own study. It does not give you the right to copy, publish, or redistribute it.
You keep ownership of anything you submit to Studible (for example, notes or chat messages). By submitting that content, you give us a limited licence to store and process it so that we can provide the service to you.
Thuto AI — how it works and its limitations
Thuto is our in-app AI tutor. It's a helpful companion for study, but you should use it with the following important caveats in mind.
- It can make mistakes. Thuto is built on large language models. It sometimes produces incorrect, incomplete, or outdated answers. Always cross-check important information, especially when preparing for examinations.
- It is not a substitute for a qualified teacher. Use it alongside your teacher, textbook, and school guidance — not instead of them.
- It is not a crisis or medical service. If you're in distress or need medical help, please contact a trusted adult or a professional service.
- Your chat messages may be processed by third-party AI providers, as described in our Privacy Policy.
Third-party services
Studible relies on third-party services for hosting, payments, analytics, and AI. When you use Studible, you are also subject to the terms and privacy policies of those providers, where they apply to you. We pick partners carefully but we don't control what they do on their own platforms.
Disclaimers
Studible is provided "as is" and "as available". We work hard to keep the service running well and to deliver accurate educational content, but we do not guarantee that:
- The service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure.
- Every lesson, question, or AI response is free of errors.
- Using Studible will result in any particular examination grade, school placement, or learning outcome.
Your educational success is influenced by many factors — Studible is one tool among them.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Studible, Noetic Labs, and our officers, employees, and partners are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, or data, arising out of or in connection with your use of the service.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded under Botswana law.
Our total liability to you in any 12-month period will not exceed the amount you have paid to Studible in that period.
Suspension and termination
You can stop using Studible at any time. You can also ask us to delete your account by emailing hello@studible.co.bw.
We may suspend or terminate your account if you break these Terms, if we're required to by law, or if we need to stop offering the service. Where possible we'll give you notice.
Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (for example, intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) will survive.
Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Botswana. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of Studible will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Botswana, except where mandatory local consumer-protection law gives you the right to bring proceedings in another jurisdiction.
Before starting any formal dispute, please contact us first at hello@studible.co.bw. We'd rather talk and find a fair solution.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make a material change, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and, where appropriate, notify you by email or in the app. Continued use of Studible after a change takes effect counts as acceptance of the new Terms.
